Habanos keeps UK Cuban prices inflated

Posted: Monday, March 20th, 2006 @ 2:14 pm in Cigars, Cuban Cigars | No Comments »

Not exactly breaking news, but pretty interesting, apparently a UK cigar seller tried importing Cubans into the UK without Habanos’ permission. The cigars were siezed at customs and the seller went to court.
“..the High Court ruled effectively that prices should remain unchanged when it upheld the right of the Corporación Habanos to prevent its cigars […]

Drew Estate Dirt

Posted: Saturday, January 28th, 2006 @ 9:31 am in Cigars | 3 Comments »

I smoked a Drew Estate Dirt several days ago. After smoking a real Cohiba in the Caribbean a week earlier, I can honestly say I enjoyed the Drew Estate Dirt a lot more (it didn’t help that the Cohiba was sitting in my air conditioned room for a couple of days drying out either.) Despite […]

New Cigars Soon

Posted: Monday, January 9th, 2006 @ 12:25 pm in Cigars, Drew Estate Cigars | 1 Comment »

The first week in January is already over with and I haven’t smoked a cigar in months! This cold, dreary, winter weather is killing me! Within in the next week or two though, Andrew and I are going to be ordering at least one box of Baccarats. If the money is there, […]

Its been a while since I’ve smoked a cigar

Posted: Saturday, December 10th, 2005 @ 7:19 pm in Cigars | 2 Comments »

I haven’t smoked a cigar in months. Its been a combination of time, weather, and money. For a while there I was just spending way too much on cigars so I decided to give it a break. Now the weather is freezing outside and I’m not going to be lighting any up indoors. I’ve got […]

Forbes picks up on teen cigar smoking

Posted: Saturday, December 10th, 2005 @ 7:16 pm in Cigars | No Comments »

This isn’t the first story on teen cigar smoking and it won’t be the last. I’m don’t think this is even news anymore. Time to find something a little more interesting.
“We may be deceiving ourselves into thinking that we are winning the war against smoking based solely on the figures relating to cigarette smokers, without […]

Teen Cigar Smoking

Posted: Monday, August 29th, 2005 @ 3:05 pm in Cigars | 2 Comments »

Here is a story from Fox 19 Cincinnati. More high school students have smoked cigars than cigarettes. The anti-smoking police say this is because taxes have not effected cigars. The story says that a pack of cigs is around $5 while a cigar is 59 cents.
I think this story leaves more questions than it […]

Baccarat and Helix: SMOKED!

Posted: Monday, August 8th, 2005 @ 3:01 pm in Cigars | No Comments »

Last Wednesday, before I went on my fishing vacation, we smoked the cigars we recently purchased. Again, Andrew had the Helix and I had the Baccarat. The Baccarat I smoked started with a good taste, but turned quite harsh towards the end. Nonetheless, it was a good smoke and I’ll probably smoke […]

Carlos Toraño

Posted: Monday, August 1st, 2005 @ 3:00 pm in Cigars | 1 Comment »

Last night Andy came over again and brought me a Carlos Toraño. Good taste, good draw, good smoke. If you’ve never tried a Carlos Toraño this is a must try — trust me.

Today, Andrew and I drove out to Port Tobacco to buy some butane for our torch lighters that we purchased about […]

New Jersey Bill would ban smoking cigars in cars

Posted: Sunday, July 24th, 2005 @ 11:36 pm in Cigars | 1 Comment »

A proposed bill in New Jersey would would create a car smoking law. This would mean no more enjoying cigars while driving in that state. However, like the ban on hand-held cellphone use while driving it is unexpected to be enforced.

Cigar Ratings

Posted: Wednesday, July 6th, 2005 @ 9:49 pm in Cigars | No Comments »

Instead of detailed reviews I’m just going to rate the cigars from my last sampler packs I’ve ordered. Note, I haven’t been able to smoke all of them because I shared some with my friends.
Instead of using numbers I have my own rating system. Here it goes:
Must smoke
Smoke when you get around to it
Don’t smoke
Its […]

My world of cigars

Posted: Wednesday, July 6th, 2005 @ 9:39 pm in Cigars | 1 Comment »

I haven’t been posting a lot lately. In fact, I only managed 3 cigar blog posts last month — at the very beginning!
Between being very busy and smoking way too many cigars I just haven’t had time to write. I’ve smoked every single cigar in that last sampler pack I posted about in June […]

Drew Estate Natural Egg

Posted: Thursday, June 9th, 2005 @ 8:23 pm in Cigars, Drew Estate Cigars | No Comments »

Perhaps you’ve heard of this monster, the infamous Drew Estate Egg (seen here on their official site.)
I recieved two of these FedEx on Monday. Yesterday I had the oppurtunity to smoke it.
To start off, it had a pretty weak burn, but a good draw. As it burned further I couldn’t draw any smoke from […]

Griffin’s Fuerte Robusto Natural 4 3/4 X 48

Posted: Friday, June 3rd, 2005 @ 8:01 pm in Cigars | No Comments »

After grilling some burgers and hotdogs I sat down and smoked a Griffin’s Fuerte cigar with a friend.
I had no idea what to expect before smoking this cigar. When looking at my humidor the white wrapper caught my attention.
This cigar impressed me. It is mild without a hint of harshness. It had a […]

What I’m smoking

Posted: Wednesday, May 18th, 2005 @ 10:08 am in Cigars | No Comments »

Its been a while since I posted last. As I posted before I purchased 3 boxes of cigars. Because my humidor is overflowing (and my bank account isn’t) I haven’t purchased any new cigars recently.
I definately recommend the La Veija Habana’s for a good cheap smoke. The Drew Estate Jucy Lucys are great if you […]

Tom DeLay says Cuban cigars “cost of our national honor” — smokes them anyways

Posted: Thursday, April 28th, 2005 @ 12:14 pm in Cigars, Cuban Cigars | 1 Comment »

This isn’t a political blog, but when the topic involves cigars, well, what can else can I talk about.
Time Magazine has a photograph of Republican House Majority Leader Tom Delay smoking a cuban cigar. Big deal? In 2004 DeLay had this to say about US economic sanctions against Cuba.
“(Fidel)…will take the money. Every dime that […]

Can’t Get Enough Drew Estate

Posted: Sunday, April 24th, 2005 @ 9:03 pm in Cigars, Drew Estate Cigars | No Comments »

I have hardly touched the blog this month. Don’t worry, I’m still here. As I said in the last entry I needed some time to “cool down.” Well, thats over now. My humidor is now completely full. In fact, we can’t even fit all of our cigars in it right now.
Today I played a game […]
